There are lots of exciting things to do and see in Alicante during Christmas time. Children can visit Santa’s Grotto, where it will snow everyday at 20:00, or you can enjoy a Christmas sweet market, open everyday from the 1st December until the 5th January, except Christmas Day and New Years Day, or go skating on the temporary ice rink
From 14th to 23rd December in the Edificio Seneca in the Plaza Senec there will be around 50 craft stalls with live music, activities and games for children, plus a living nativity complete with some of the animals who shared the stable with Mary and Joseph.
Traditional Spanish Christmas dinner is celebrated on Noche Buena, Christmas Eve and is not turkey and trimmings, but seafood is usually high on the agenda and the meal will be complemented with Cava and trays of Spanish Christmas cakes and nougats
Last, but not least, Turron is a local delicacy that you must try during Christmas. Locally made, around 20km from Alicante from honey, eggs, sugar and almonds Turron is very readily available in all Spanish supermarkets
